Here we are again in a few months the whole world waiting to see that GREAT COMEDY of the EUROVISION 2008 SONG CONTEST. What the hell wants Greece to be there, ( and not only Greece but all the western European countries including Cyprus as well) we got a first position a few years ago with Paparizou thats all, the rest is only our taxes money that ERT uses to promote some unknown “artists” promoted from some TV channels and Greek record companies. Who is Kalomoira or Kakomira, we never knew about her until she was promoted from the usual Greek channel 3 years ago, after she won a stuped “American idol type” show. She even become a co-presenter with another “Blond`Greek Beauty”, an ex unknown flower pot of another old TV show and today a big name in the morning stuped shows off the Greek television breakfast TV and one day from that show she mad some bad references about our island because of her ignorance and she had to give a “pardon” after people of Leros got really ungry . The other person elected as candidate was someone with the name Martakis (who and the other one is a Pagona or Chrispa (Που τους βρισκουν ρε παιδια)…… . Finally I personally with a few hundred more millions of western Europeans believe that Greece as well as France, UK, BENELUX, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and all the rest of WEST EUROPE should stop taking part in that rediculus contest that have become an internal affair among the east European countries and the countries of former USSR and former Yugosavia, Albania and Turkey. I believe West Europe Greee and Cyprus should stop partisipate in that cuture insulting circus.

Flights to Leros Greece

Flights to Leros though are daily from the Airport of Athens Greece during the summer they can be a big problem. As the cost is almost the same with a first class cabin in a ferry more and more people choose to fly to Leros instead of the long sea journey. The cost of flights within Greece is not so much. But not only flights to Leros are cheap in general more and more companies offer today cheap flights to Greece.

But lets see what are the problems during the summer especially in July and August. Normally the airplanes of Olympic airlines are for 50 passengers but the pilot only takes 25 just in case the weather is not so good. If you go to the offices they will put you in the waiting list. The best thing you have to do is just go to the airport with your ticket very early in the morning wait and see. Most of the times the airplane will go with all seats occupied. But why bother with the waiting list, just book your ticket 2-3 months before if you have arrange your traditional Greek  holidays in Leros and there wont be any problem at all.

Mykonos tourism

 Can you imagine if Leros had the same tourism wave like Mykonos. That is a very fictional story for some good reasons, first we have nice beaches but most of them are not sandy like those of Mykonos. Of course we have a sandy nudist beach in Kryfos but is very small.

 The other problem is that the island does not have the tourist infrastructure of Mykonos like the boutique hotels and the big units. Well at least if the ferries were doing the old route of MIMIKA L in the good old days we probably could have some backpackers from Mykonos.

Unfortunatelly the bigest problem of Leros is the distance from Athens Greece and the small airport . Well our tourism is getting better anyway all we need is some fast frries like the ones that go to Crete and Mytilini.

We will never have the tourism of Mykonos or Kos or Rhodes but we are happy with the tourism we have now.
